My mailbox has been flooded with graduation announcements from high school students and students that I’ve worked with over the years who are now graduating from college. I save every single announcement that I receive and celebrate all of our graduating students. Great Job!

Summer has arrived. As I write this weeks newsletter, the temperature hit 100 degrees here in Texas. It makes me excited for all of the students who’ve worked so hard to be on the edge of summer and all of its possibilities.

College Success Tips

High School Students

Summer!!!!! Let’s make this summer a 'scholarship summer' so that you’ll have money coming in for your education before you even need it. How do you make it a scholarship summer? Sign up for Imagine Scholarships and spend at least an hour a day applying for scholarships. This can be a huge investment of time, but you will see a huge reward for your efforts. If you’re a rising senior, begin thinking about your essay topics.

College Students

College students, You did it! Now it’s time to reflect on the last semester, see what you did well and what you wish you’d done better, and begin planning for what you’ll do next semester. As those semester grades start to come in, celebrate the wins and do your best to correct any mistakes you made in your study habits. If you fail a class, it will be ok. Consider retaking that class at a local community college where the classes are often less difficult. Make sure that it will transfer before it starts.

Parents 

Parents, it's time to take a breath and pat yourself on the back. You did it! You survived another school year. I feel like you need a diploma too! While I can’t give you a diploma, I can tell you about a scholarship just for parents. 

Educators

You made it to summer !!!!! 

Educators, I enjoy finding resources to help you do, what you do best. Here is a resource you will find helpful as you help students fill out the common application in the future. This tool is called the AXS Companion. Did you know that 40% of applications that are started are never completed? Often the process seems too overwhelming to the students who need it most.
