Money Mondays (1)

By Imagine Scholarships

“Imagine where you can go with a scholarship and a dream!”

Happy Monday, Imagine Family! We want to welcome all 15,000+ students, parents and educators to Money Monday this week.

I’ll get straight to it. I’m here to do 2 things for you:

  1. Give you valuable information to help you find money for college and be smart with your money

  2. Give you tips on how to be your best self as a student, parent or educator

Think of me as your own personal cheerleader through the college admissions, scholarship and life success process. Ready ? Let’s Go!

This week's Money Monday is on the topic of building a future you love. Notice I didn’t say, “Finding a future you love.” While I wish it were more like a treasure hunt, it’s actually a series of great decisions and lots of hard work. You won’t find your future, you’ll build it.

While there is no magic wand to help you, there are some practical steps you can take to help you build the bright future you dream of. Let’s take a look at just a few of those steps.

Student Section

Your future is yours to shape. Whether you’re a high school student dreaming of college or a college student mapping out your career, now is the time to take charge of your financial and academic decisions.

Start with small steps:

  1. Explore your passions – Take time to think about what you love to do. Can you turn it into a career? Research college majors and career paths that align with your interests.

  2. Invest in your skills – Whether it’s through free online courses, internships or campus clubs, look for ways to develop the skills that will make you stand out in the future job market.

  3. Set financial goals – Create a budget to ensure you’re managing your money well now so you’ll be in a good place after graduation.

Pro Tip: Watch this inspiring TED Talk, "The little risks you can take to increase your luck" by Stanford educator Tina Seelig, which offers insight into thinking creatively about your career and future.

Parent Corner

As a parent, you play a pivotal role in helping your child visualize and work toward their dream future. You can inspire them by fostering curiosity and offering guidance.

Tips to inspire your student:

  1. Encourage exploration – Give your child the space to explore different careers and interests, from attending workshops to speaking with professionals in their fields of interest.

  2. Financial literacy – Help them understand the importance of budgeting, saving, and managing student loans responsibly. Introduce resources like Imagine Scholarships to show them that funding their future is possible without overwhelming debt.

  3. Emotional support – Remind your child that the path to success is not always a straight line. Encourage them to stay flexible and open-minded as they explore different routes to their goals.

Educator’s Edge

As an educator, you’re in a unique position to equip students with the tools they need to create a future they love. By offering practical resources, you can empower them to take control of their academic and financial lives.

How you can help:

  1. Introduce career exploration resources – Share websites like O*NET (onetonline.org) where students can learn about career paths, job demand, and necessary qualifications.

  2. Teach financial literacy – Incorporate budgeting, saving, and loan repayment education into your curriculum. Use tools like Imagine Scholarships to show students where they can find financial aid that aligns with their goals.

  3. Create opportunities for growth – Provide students with practical experiences like internships, mentorship programs, or even in-class projects that mimic real-world scenarios.
