š¶Theme: Itās an 80s Thing ā College Edition
Grab your Walkman, crank up the mixtape, and letās rock the college journey like itās 1985. Because if the 80s taught us anything, itās that big hair, big dreams, and a little perseverance can take you far. For more 80s fun, click here.
š Also, Iāll be doing a free webinar on Tuesday evening. Iād love for you to join us. Sign up here!
College Students
šµ Song of the Week: āLivinā on a Prayerā ā Bon Jovi
Exams, studying, and scholarship deadlines might have you feeling stretched thin, but youāre halfway there. Stay focused, pace yourself, and rememberāevery task you complete moves you closer to the finish line.
Tip: Make a āTop 5ā list of what you can realistically do this week (e.g., submit one scholarship, edit your essay, reach out to a professor). Cross them off as you goāinstant dopamine hit.
High School Students
šµ Song of the Week: āDonāt Stop Believināā ā Journey
Whether youāre mapping out which schools to visit, thinking about majors, or starting your first scholarship search, donāt underestimate the power of believing in yourself.
Tip: Pick one scholarship to apply forāeven a quirky one. (Yes, thereās one for tall students, duck callers, and doodlers!) Starting now builds confidence for later.
Parents
šµSong of the Week: āTake It Easyā ā Eagles (okay, late 70s, but it counts š)
Your student is on an emotional rollercoaster. Theyāll change their minds, get frustrated, and celebrate small wins. Your role? Be the calm in their stormāpatient, organized, and encouraging.
Tip: Have one ācollege chatā this week that isnāt about deadlines. Instead, ask: What excites you most about the next chapter? Then just listen.
Educators
šµ Song of the Week: āAnother One Bites the Dustā ā Queen
Rejections happen, but they donāt define your students. Remind them that one ānoā is just making room for the right āyes.ā
Tip: Share a 5-minute classroom activity where students match an 80s song title to a financial or college challenge (e.g., āI Will Surviveā = FAFSA). It makes learning both memorable and fun.
Quote of the Week
āDonāt stop believinā⦠hold on to that feelinā.ā ā Journey
Fun Fact of the Week
š„ In the 1940s, Oregon State let students pay tuition with potatoes and peanut butter. So yesācollege costs have always been āinteresting.ā
Challenge of the Week
